$4,400 Rentals in Los Angeles

To provide a resource for those displaced by the Los Angeles fires, this edition of “What You Get” focuses on rentals rather than for-sale properties.

This three-bedroom, one-bathroom house is in a neighborhood south of Interstate 10, within a 15-minute drive of both Culver City and downtown Los Angeles. A public elementary school is three blocks away, and both West Adams and West Jefferson Avenues, nearby major thoroughfares, are lined with shopping and dining options, including a 24-hour hot dog and sandwich stand, a taqueria and a Creole restaurant.

Rancho Cienega Recreation Center, with tennis courts, a pool, and a track, is a five-minute drive. The USC campus takes 15 minutes by car and LAX takes 25.

Indoors: Paved steps lead from the street to the red front door, which opens to the living room. The walls are painted teal with white trim, and original built-in bookshelves flank a gas fireplace with a black tile hearth. There’s a window above each bookshelf and a larger window faces the front yard. The home is available partially furnished.

On the other side of the living room, through a wide doorway flanked by white columns, is the formal dining room. There’s a pass-through window to the kitchen, which has a white tile backsplash above granite counters.

Two of the three bedrooms are off a hallway from the dining room. The largest faces the street, with three big windows and, like the rest of the house, original hardwood floors. The second bedroom, big enough for a queen-size bed, has wood-paneled walls painted dark green. The bathroom, also off the hall, has a combined tub and shower. A third bedroom, big enough for a double bed, is directly off the dining room.

Outdoor space and amenities: A paved patio off the kitchen is shaded by mature fruit trees and the fenced-in yard beyond it is landscaped with artificial grass. The driveway has room for one car.

Utilities: Rent includes weekly gardening service and water, but not gas, electricity or cable/internet.

This one-bedroom, one-and-a-half bathroom unit is in Park Wellington, a large building just south of Sunset Boulevard. Nightclubs on the Sunset Strip are within walking distance, as are Mel’s Drive-In and the Comedy Store. The Beverly Center shopping mall takes five minutes by car, and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center takes less than 10 minutes. The Grove and The Original Farmer’s Market are both a 10-minute drive.

Studio City is 15 minutes away by car, as are U.C.L.A. and Century City.

Indoors: Double doors open from the hall to a foyer, with the living room adjacent. The floors are laminate, and the unit is being rented with its furnishings. Adjacent to the living room is a spacious dining area, with sliding-glass doors that open to a private brick patio surrounded by greenery and views of the building’s gardens.

The galley-style kitchen, off the dining area, has recessed lighting and stainless steel appliances. A half bath is off the foyer, and the living room has access to two closets.

A secondary sitting area, which could also be used as an office nook, is set up between the dining area and the bedroom. The bedroom has a closet and a window with wooden shutters facing the patio. Adjacent to the bedroom is the updated main bathroom, which has a walk-in shower, built-in cabinets and a wooden vanity with a green stone countertop.

Outdoor space and amenities: In addition to the unit’s private patio, the building’s residents share an in-ground swimming pool surrounded by cabanas, a sauna, a gym and tennis courts. The unit includes one designated parking spot in a secure garage.

Utilities: Water, trash, and access to the building’s amenities are included, while electricity, gas, and cable/internet are not. Contact: Fariba Bolour, Sotheby’s International Realty — Beverly Hills Brokerage, 310-666-2216
