Late Jayalalitha’s glittering assets will be taken back by the Tamil Nadu government from Karnataka.
27 kilos of gold, diamond jewelery, gem stones, 601 kg of silver, 10,000 sarees, 750 pairs of footwear were among the assets that will go back to Tamil Nadu government.

The court officials in Bengaluru returned the assets and documents in the disproportionate assets case to the Tamil Nadu government officials.
The TN officials brought six large trunks under heavy security to transport 10,000 sarees, 750 pairs of shoes, 27 kilos of gold, diamond jewelery, gem stones, 601 kg of silver, documents pertaining to 1672 agricultural land documents, residential documents, 8376 books, etc.

When the late chief minister’s embezzlement case was transferred from Tamil Nadu to Karnataka in 2004, the officials brought and safeguarded the property and documents.
According to inside sources, the value of assets is said to be Rs 4000 crore. But the figure is unofficial. In January, 2025, the Karnataka High Court dismissed a plea by legal heirs J Deepa and J Deepak asking for possession of confiscated assets.
