Visa moving European HQ to Canary Wharf

Visa is moving its European headquarters to Canary Wharf, in another boost for the Docklands financial district.

The US payments giant will move from Paddington in central London to the One Canada Square skyscraper in 2028.

The deal came days after JP Morgan Chase unveiled plans to build a tower in Canary Wharf that the investment bank says will contribute £9.9billion to the local economy over six years.

Canary Wharf Group, co-owned by Qatar’s sovereign wealth fund and Canada’s Brookfield, was hit hard by the pandemic-induced fall in office demand.

The area is now enjoying a rebound as more businesses push staff to return to the office.
