Australian police arrest bitcoin ATM, Pokemon, Magic the Gathering card thieves
Australian police recently arrested a criminal ring operating in Melbourne. They discovered six cryptocurrency ATMs and $50,0000 worth of Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic the Gathering and other trading cards, according to a report by Coin Telegraph.
Police also found other items such as firearms, 100 car keys, power tools and other stolen goods. The authorities arrested four men, but two were released pending further investigation. The other two were charged with multiple crimes such as burglary, theft of motor vehicle and possessing a prohibited weapon.
However, Detective Inspector Patrick Watkinson said he believes this group may be part of a larger criminal syndicate.
“Police have also identified the lesser offenders supplying stolen goods and, more importantly, the Middle Eastern Organized Crime Syndicates tasking the apprehended offenders,” Watkinson said in the report.
